Susan,

Belated thanks for the hard copy print of Ivan’s paper stuff award. It is a marvel—whimsical, so full of basenjiness, and beautifully done. We feel we’ve been awarded something extra special when we get one of your certificates. …………...................................................…….….PEGGY PICK

Hi Susan -

Just reading your yummy tree bark recipe in this latest issue of The Wrinkler. J And I have a question for you:  At what point do you apply the wax paper that you later remove? (Have you tried parchment paper under the batter?)

Reads YUMMY!! I just don't want to screw up the ability to cut them to look decent, as the ingredients aren't cheap and I just hate waste (drives me nuts). ……….KATIE CAMPBELL

{Ed: Answer is butter the glass dish, then put the waxed paper.}

Just started reading it (May Wrinkler) and ran across your Twin Towers Tight Rope poster.  My husband and I recently watched a documentary about the French man and his feat.  It's called "Man on Wire."  Wow.  The poster is delightful.

I love all the photos in the Wrinkler.  You're very lucky to have such an active club.  There are a few of us that call ourselves the Basenji Club of Austin.  We try to get together weekly for conformation class, or something, which typically ends with a margarita after dark!..............................WENDY HODGES

(Ed:  "Man on Wire" was written up in a past Wrinkler & in the Western Yodel.}

Hi Susan,

We enjoyed the many gorgeous photos of the basenjis.  We particularly liked seeing them in action on the coursing field.

Thank you for continuing to provide a link to us.  We appreciate you and your advertising.

Take care.    RICK AND DARLEEN GALLIONE - MASTER'S PRIDE

Hi,

This is neat stuff, as seen in an NBC nightly news clip, from last night I think, and a Reuters article from today, about the lung cancer drug I’ve been working on (Xalkori or Crizotinib).  It’s in trials in several different types of peds cancer and seeing amazing response in those with ALK genetic mutation.  This is really cool because it’s the first time a cancer drug has been designed to go after the mutation, regardless of the type of cancer, and it’s working in all of these seemingly different types of cancer.

There were 8 kids with rare lymphoma and 7 of the 8 had their cancer completely go away.  Awesome!!  (Several of these 8 kids are on the peds oral solution version of the drug that I developed).

The news clip features Dr. Yeal Mosse, our clinical partner lead at Childrens Hospital of Phili.  I’ve been in a lot of meetings with her.  Neat to see her on the nightly news.

The article talks about the high dosages needed for neuro-blastoma (another peds cancer).  Most of the neuroblastoma patients are on the oral solution that came out of my lab (the adult version tablets on the market are not available in dosage high enough).

To quote one of my project leaders. “It’s great to hear these stories  from our patients and clinical partners – it’s a powerful reminder of the importance of the work we are doing! Have a look..”…………..NATALIE CULVER

{Ed: I emailed thanks for their hospitality for our Match to Karen Sahulka & here is her reply}

Hi Susan, You are very welcome- all looks good here today. Clean up was perfect.  I am thrilled that the weather was so fine, and there were not too many bugs. I was also happy to see people having a good time, but my favorite thing was seeing the dogs zooming around in True's yard. And the group sing!!!!    xoxo,   K
