Dr. Dodds' Liver Cleansing Diet

There are several versions of Jean Dodds' Liver Cleansing Diet online.  Here’s the simplest one:

 * White potato + sweet potato (50/50) cooked

* White Fish lightly cooked e.g.: cod, halibut, mackerel, smelt, snapper etc

Ratio is 2/3 of potato mix with 1/3 of fish. Season with mixed Italian Herbs or fresh parsley, salt and pepper. Later chopped carrots and green beans ( both cooked) can be added as can scrambled eggs. Yellow squash can also be added. Give a liquid children's multivitamin or a supplement such as Missing Link (source of calcium).

Note from Dr Dodds:  I have some patients that have been on the diet for 7 years now, that were near death before, and are thriving! Testimonials are numerous, without one negative comment, other than some won't eat fish, and so we give chicken to them.

MILK THISTLE

Dr. Dodds recommends using milk thistle in the doses listed below to help heal the liver along with reducing Phenobarbital (according to your vet) and feeding the liver cleansing diet.

11-20 lbs 20%

The Whole Dog Journal is an excellent resource for choosing dog foods.

Every year they formulate and publish new lists of recommended food in the spring issues.

Here's M reading the Whole Dog Journal's 2011 list of recommended dry foods, with Chelsea James.
Clearly M is the one doing the reading.

Chelsea said M picked Fromm, which she does eat, along with Acana.

The WDJ dry food issue, for the first time, has a chart showing why Eukanumba, Iams, Purina One, etc, still don't make the list.
