Brunch Report

Rip Van Wrinkle Basenji Club

Annual Meeting and Beat the Winter Doldrums Brunch

Chez Apu - Woodstock, New York

February 28, 2010 (meeting was called to order at 11:30 am)

Outside, lots of snow

Treasurer’s Report:

Although income was down in the past year, the club ended the 2009-year in better financial shape than the previous year, because we had voted to publish the Wrinkler, the club’s quarterly newsletter, online only. This results in better issues, with more news and photos, links, at less stress to produce, at minimal cost (see below). If any club members want to see the actual numbers, please contact the editor.

—The club made more than $1,000 in charitable donations, including $500 to The Medfly Brigade, Basenji Rescue in California.

President’s Report:

—80 family memberships, 9 honorary members, and 10 newsletter exchanges.

—We discussed the new raffle for the BHE to be drawn at our match show in July. (See Page 17 for details)

—Publishing the Wrinkler online and the RVW web page cost $25 total for the year, for the host site.

The group discussed ideas for a new T-shirt, including a reissue of a popular favorite, but did not make a decision.

Match Show

Sunday, July 11, at the Polo Field in Scotia, New York, an excellent site for racing. To be held in conjunction with CLASS NOTRA race meet: after the meet concludes. All in favor.

For costume class, all approved Karen S’s theme idea of “Avatar.” Many possibilities here: dog avatar, human avatar, both in costume, dog as human avatar, human as dog avatar, etc.

New Business

Debby Mayer was cajoled into taking over the job of club Secretary, including Sunshine secretary, by acclamation, and agreed to do same. The club expressed our great thanks to Mary Beth Printsky for holding this position all these many years.

We voted to send $400 to BRAT for Florida rescues. For more information, see Feb. Wrinkler. Update in this issue.

With that, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

 Debby Mayer

Thank you note from Chey Miller for BRAT:

On behalf of Basenji Rescue and Transport I send my personal thanks for your generous donation toward the care and placement of the 51 Wimauna, Florida basenjis that were turned over to us by the court. Be assured that the money will be used wisely, and we will do our best to find a safe and loving home for each basenji!
